Kitchen Academy Chooses Sacramento for Campus Location

Sacramento, Calif., November 14, 2006—The Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) announced today that Kitchen Academy, a hands-on professional culinary school with accelerated diploma programs, has selected the Sacramento Region as the site for its second campus. The first Kitchen Academy campus opened 16 months ago in Hollywood.

“We’ve watched Sacramento’s evolution into a growing and sophisticated, entertainment-rich market. We think that Kitchen Academy will be a welcome addition to the innovative and dynamic culture of Sacramento,” said Chris Becker, Kitchen Academy founder.

The Sacramento school, which encompasses nearly 20,000 square feet, will contain custom designed workstations with LCD screens, commercial grade equipment and some of the finest ingredients. In addition to the technology that enhances instruction, Kitchen Academy emphasizes an interactive process between students and instructors.

Kitchen Academy’s Accelerated Training SystemTM features a custom curriculum and text designed by chefs for chefs. Students can graduate with a Professional Culinary Arts Diploma in as little as 30 weeks. Kitchen Academy’s Accelerated Training System™ incorporates five stages during which students can learn the basics and quickly evolve to more complex principals and techniques, culminating in an externship at a foodservice provider such as a catering company, restaurant or hotel.

“Because all of our teaching is done in the kitchen from day one, our students can graduate with the culinary skills the industry is looking for today,” said Becker. “We’re thrilled to expand to the Sacramento Area and offer a hands-on culinary education to aspiring chefs.”

SACTO’s 2006/07 Board Chair, Jeff Koewler added, “The Sacramento Region’s leisure and hospitality sector added the most jobs among its major sectors during the past year. The location of Kitchen Academy couldn’t have come at a better time as we struggle to keep pace with the growing demand for qualified, skilled culinary professionals.”

The new campus will be located at 2450 Del Paso Road, just north of Arco Arena. With an extensive rebuild well underway, enrollment is open now with the first classes scheduled to start in February 2007.
