Pacific Ethanol, Inc. Selects Sacramento as National Headquarters
The Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) announced today that Pacific Ethanol, Inc. (PEI), a publicly traded renewable fuel company, has selected the Sacramento Region as the site for its newly established national headquarters. The new headquarters will be located at 400 Capitol Mall, in downtown Sacramento.
PEI is an industry leader in the marketing and production of ethanol as a clean fuel alternative. Founded in 2003 by former Secretary of State, Bill Jones and Neil Koehler, a nationally recognized expert on ethanol with over 20 years experience in this industry sector, PEI is strategically poised to meet the growing demand for domestically sourced alternative fuels. Their focus is the marketing, production, and sale of ethanol in the Western United States. Californians used 750 million gallons of ethanol fuel in 2003 and that number increased to 900 million in 2004. In order to meet future demands, PEI operates a production facility in Madera, California and another, under construction, in Boardman, Oregon.
The new headquarter location, which encompasses 7,000 square feet, will be home to the company’s senior management, human resources, and investor relations divisions. The location’s proximity to the Capitol will also be an asset in regards to furthering renewable energy education and legislation.
“The Sacramento Region is fast becoming known as a hub for the clean energy industry, and we are pleased to welcome Pacific Ethanol, Inc. to our growing and impressive line-up of clean energy companies,” stated SACTO Chair, Jeff Koewler. “Pacific Ethanol’s move to the Sacramento Region fits with SACTO’s “high value and headquarter” recruitment strategy as well as with Partnership for Prosperity’s emphasis on development of the clean energy industry sector in the region.”
Pacific Ethanol Inc. is publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol, PEIX. For more information on the company, please visit their website at www.pacificethanol.net.
Jeff Boucher with TRI Commercial assisted the company and Graeme Coyle with Equity Office represented the landlord. SACTO would also like to thank Assistant City Manager, John Dangberg and Jim Rinehart, Economic Development Manager for the city of Sacramento for their assistance and support.
